Employee Benefits


Annual salaries for teaching positions are based upon verification of prior years of full time public school teaching experience, certification and degree. See Salary Schedule.

The applicant must contact their prior employer(s) and have verification of experience forwarded to Pike Road Schools. All applicants will start on the salary schedule at level -0- and will remain there until verification of experience has been received.

Personal Leave

All regular eligible employees are granted five (5) personal leave days per year, which may be taken at any time. Personal leave does not accumulate from year-to-year. The first two days are provided at no cost to the employee and are earned at a rate of one day per semester. Each of the remaining three days (when used) will result in the employee's gross pay being reduced by the daily rate of a substitute teacher.

Vacation Leave (12-month employees)

Vacation leave will be earned by twelve (12) month employees. Vacation leave will be earned on a monthly basis and may not be taken in advance. Vacation may be taken during the year in which earned. Vacation may be accumulated up to 15 days of vacation and carried forward. At the end of the service to Pike Road Schools, employees may receive payment for up to 10 days of vacation at their current daily rate.

Sick Leave

Sick leave is earned at the rate of one day per month while in a pay status. Sick leave accumulates from year-to-year.


The Pike Road School System is a member of the Alabama Teacher's Retirement System. Membership is mandatory for all full-time employees. If you were hired before January 1, 2013, you are classified as a TRS Tier 1 member. If you were hired after January 1, 2013, and do not have prior service years with RSA, you are classified as a TRS Tier 2 Member. Pike Road Schools' employees have the opportunity to participate in a variety of group and individual benefits. However, there are typically only 3 times during the year that enrollment or changes are permitted:
